I want to create two characters for this illustration, one on the left and one on the right. Both have to be related to computers or the mediacity itself, here are some of my ideas....

Its difficult to come up with items and then transform them into characters but im slowly beggining to bring emotion and character into my illustrations.

The tower family

When i was drawing these i wanted to create the feeling of the buildings rising from the floor so i wanted the bottom to be thin and the top to be wider so it gives the illusion that were looking down on the towers, also i have given them a 3d effect to create more depth and detail.

1. Simple outline that creates the boarder for me to work in. Need to make some more detail and thicken some lines up to make the Illustration more 3D.

2. I went abit crazy with the middle tower and i feel i have ruined it but i will percist in making the other two decent then work on the middle one another time.

3. Now i have thickened the one on the left it looks like theyre more 3D and this has give the tower more of a character.

4. Now that all characters have been shaded and detailed now i want to further this design and make it more individual instead of 3, also i want to make a stencil out of one of them, this will create a dark image on my collage which will catch peoples attention and this will help with the Advertisement.

Tower Illustration

I wanted to draw something relating to the cityscape at MediacityUK, I have drawn towers in several different styles in the past but i feel this Technique is the most posotive style to create the feeling of height and depth in the Building itself. These are step by step Illustrations showing how i have developed my design and how i have advertised the Mediacity.

1. Good and solid design with a feeling of height and windows need a retro Tetris style blocks which will represent the windows. In the photos i took one of the buildings has alot of these shapes on the material used on these structures and i felt i could incorporate these shapes into my illustration, overall the technique is working well.

2. As you can see i have input the name MediacityUK into my Illustration but in a suttle way, I wanted to make the type more block style so that there is no contrast between the windows and the type but still visible and readable.

3. All windows and layout complete, now i want to add shade to create depth.

4. Windows all shaded in, now i want to make the type stand out more so i would need to use a colour.

5. I have thickened up the boarder and added red to the type and blue to the windows. I added the blue to the windows because i felt they needed to be realised that they are there and the only way to do that is by adding abit of colour but not to much to take the focus away from the writing.

When i went taking photos at the Salford quays i found a variety of buildings that gave me alot of creative ideas for my Characters. These Characters will be spread around my illustration to show my creativity and my imagination, some will be flying and some will be stood around but all will be detailed and relate to the material around MediacityUK.

Target Audience

The Target audience is mainly people who want to start a business and work within a community on creative designers. This would mean that the Illustration would have to be high class for people of the creative arts to pay attention to. I want a snappy lively design to my illustration aswell as making objects come to life such as flashdrives flying around my collage, computer mouse made into a snail. All these ideas will attract my target audience because all creative people pay attention to things that are out of the ordinary.

Practicing my New Illustration style

I have tried to practice drawing alot more precise but snappy, this creates a very simple boarder around your illustration and it looks very proffesional.

4. All these step by step Illustrations have shown me how i have developed this style by thickening up the lines and creating emotion and feeling. This style will come in use and i will further this development throughout this assignment.





my Inspiration for my Illustrated peice

I have looked into Mediacity and i want to create a collage of a variety of Illustrations that all relate and work together, finding a relationship between these different illustrations is going to be difficult but i feel that i can do this with high insight due to me wanting to be a graphic illustrator/ Advertisment.
. These are just images that have give me different ideas.

1. These two images both have a relationship due to thhe shapes that have been taken from the architectural designs and made into a logo as you can see above. The shapes are very cubist and maybe i could use this technique to one of my main Illustration which will lead my collage.

2. I want to draw a flashdrive but i want to convert it into a bird of some sort flying from behind my centre Illustration which will be a lady with long hair.

Artist name - Graficdust

I found this Illustrator on Eye candy illustration which is a website for different illustrators in the UK can advertise their work to the public. The Illustrator that i chose has a distinctive style which i feel represents the style im trying to aim for, which is clean, tidy, very modernised advertisement and also pleasent for the eye to see. Anybody can enjoy looking at illustrations like these because of the beautiful colours and strokes.

1. This illustration is very suttle in colour, The Artist has reflected on the colours of the phone and incorporated them into the whole layout design. This creates a relationship between advertisement and product.

2. This Illustration is a very strong image showing that there is a chance of peace in war. The contrast between the soldier and the flowers is very strong and that is what makes this image very inspirational to me.

3. This illustration has helped me with my decision making for the colours i want to use. I feel that the
MediacityUK will need a freshcut design which will be clean and very modernised.

4. I want an Illustration of a woman in my illustration so that i can lure people to look and pay interest in my design, this is due to a magazine that i have bought and proves that sex can sell because its part of our nature to pay attention to illusive and almost sexual images.

UK Illustrator No 1.

I have found an illustrator that is so inspirational to me im going to learn more about photoshop because he has defined his illustrations with pin point precision and amazing concept using colours and shade which enhances the depth of the image to perfection.

This style of work is beyond my capabilities at the moment but i aim to create illustrations such as these when i become better on photoshop and illustrator. Enjoy.

What images could relate to MediacityUK

. If MediacityUK is going to be a design based community then i feel that i should illustrate something relating to the animation in the video.
. The animation on the video has most deffinately been inspired by Graffiti because of the simplicity of the Characters, so i feel i should do something on the Characters. (maybe even a collage would look good with several characters then i could create a cityscape for the Background)
. There are several ways i can create an illustration for MediacityUK.....
1. Illustrative and felt pens.
2. Illustrative and watercolours
3. Illustrative and photoshop effects.

Either way i feel that all these techniques will deliver a suttle yet simple technique to my illustration to reflect on the creative pulses coming from this place and also im going to look into cultural images relating to the creative community.

MediacityUK

I have been looking into what MediacityUK has to offer for this community in Salford. The Advertisement animated video basically tells us that this place has alot to offer in the media world, it seems like its a modern day Bauhaus without the craftsmanship, but using young talent to create more designed based media.

Uniform Design

2. I wanted to keep the uniform simple due to the fact that my company will be aimed at Businessmen, i kept a nice clean cut design to my shirt.

3. Im going to come up with another design for this truck because i want another side logo for transport such as bags, packaging and delivery trucks.

4. Here i have stuck with the same simple clean cut design. I feel that the purple looks ok but i would like feedback on this one.

5. On my Business card i wanted an expensive looking feel to it, so i decided to use a carbon fibre background with a slight purple overlay then blended them together to create a more luxury type design.
